
KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Western Michigan men’s tennis team is on the road to take on Ball State on Friday at 1 p.m.
The Broncos (14-9, 4-3 MAC) are looking to gain separation in the Mid-American Conference standings to secure a spot in the MAC Tournament, which WMU will host April 19-20. WMU currently sits in third place in the standings with a 4-3 record. Buffalo sits at the top at 7-1 and has already clinched a spot in the tournament. UIC is 5-2 and poised to lock in its spot. After the Broncos, Ball State sits in the fourth and final MAC Tournament spot at 3-4. Toledo is 3-5, while Northern Illinois is in last at 0-7.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Ball State split last week with Toledo and Buffalo, earning a 5-2 win over the Rockets and falling 4-3 to the Bulls. Both contests were on the road.
BSU has been a tough out at home so far this season. The Cardinals are 6-1 in Muncie, with the lone loss coming to the MAC-leaders in the opening weekend of conference play.
ON THE HORIZON
Western Michigan closes out the regular season next week with a pair of home matches against UIC and NIU. The Broncos take on the Flames on Thursday at 1 p.m. and then welcome the Huskies on Saturday at 12 p.m. Admission is free.
