Norway’s Mads Pedersen of Lidl-Trek defended his Gent-Wevelgem title with a dominant victory on Sunday (30 March).
The former world champion won the race by nearly a minute, riding solo for 56km after launching his second attack of the day on the Kemmelberg.
Pedersen shared the podium with team-mate Jonathan Milan and Tim Merlier of Soudal Quick-Step, who finished 49 seconds adrift.
Dutch rider Lorena Wiebes of Team SD Worx-Protime claimed a 100th career victory to defend her title in a sprint finish.
Wiebes, who recently won the Sanremo Women, finished ahead of Italy’s Elisa Balsamo in a repeat of last year’s race. Charlotte Kool of the Netherlands finished third.
