Max Homa has made a lot of changes in 2025.
He switched from Titleist to Cobra golf clubs and went from Footjoy to Lululemon for his clothing sponsor. Homa also stopped working with his coach last fall.
Now, he has a new man on the bag this week at the Valero Texas Open as he and his close friend Joe Greiner parted ways.
The duo had worked together since 2019, and Greiner was on the bag for all six of Homa’s PGA Tour wins. He also carried for the 34-year-old at the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup.
“Joe and I made memories for a lifetime and can’t be more thankful for all the hard work. We have parted ways, and it will be sad to see him go,” Homa said in the PGA Tour press release. “I’ll always be grateful to have walked the fairways with one of my best friends.”
The Burbank, California native and Griner have known each other since Homa was six years old. He briefly worked for Homa in 2013 but joined the team full-time in 2019.

Homa’s new caddie is Bill Harke, a veteran caddie who has worked with guys like Chris Kirk, Colt Knost and Jonas Blixt.
All the changes have yet to produce strong results for Homa. He has not made a cut in an event with one since last year’s Open Championship. Homa has made seven starts in 2025 and has had four straight missed cuts.
He went 81-70 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and then 79-71 the following week at The PLAYERS. His best finish came at the Sentry, where he was T26 in the 58-man field.
Homa is currently No. 157 in the FedEx Cup rankings, and his goal of playing in the majors seems further away than ever. If he doesn’t get his game going in a positive direction, the former Cal-Berkley golfer could miss the remaining three majors.
He finished T3 at The Masters last year, which got him in the field for this year’s tournament. However, Homa has not qualified for the U.S. Open and must be in the OWGR Top 50 for a spot at Royal Portrush for The Open and Top 60 for The PGA Championship.
