
Dozens of Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, as Israel announced it was ramping up its military offensive.
The country’s defence minister said Israel planned to seize “large areas” of the territory to add to what it describes as a security zone.
Earlier this week, Israel ordered residents in the south of the strip to leave their homes.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu – who’s due to arrive in Hungary, despite an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court – said soldiers were now creating a new military corridor cutting off Rafah from the rest of the territory.
