After leading the Philadelphia Eagles to the franchise’s second Lombardi Trophy win on Sunday, Jalen Hurts earned himself the Pete Rozelle Trophy.
Hurts has been named Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl LIX following the Eagles’ 40-22 win over the Chiefs in New Orleans.
The Eagles quarterback was masterful against Kansas City’s vaunted defense, completing 17 of 22 passes for 221 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. He added 72 rushing yards to his productive night and scored the game’s first TD off Philadelphia’s famed “Brotherly Shove” play.
Hurts’ 72 rushing yards was the most by a QB in Super Bowl history, a record he first set (70) in Super Bowl LVII. The 26-year-old is one of five players in Super Bowl history with 50-plus rushing yards and one-plus TD in multiple Super Bowls, joining Emmitt Smith, Roger Craig, John Riggins and Franco Harris.
Around the NFL will have more on Hurts’ MVP win soon.
